Rules

We have created a few rules to follow when applying and running a namelisting. Please read completely through them to make sure you agree with them. They also solve most questions people have about the maintainance of a namelisting!

General

  1. Be a fan of the name you're applying for.
  2. Have a minimum of HTML/Graphic knowledge/experience.
  3. You have 6 weeks to complete your namelisting after you have recieved your approval e-mail.
  4. Do not start working on the namelisting until you get an approval e-mail.
  5. We will only list names that are used in real life! So if you can prove there is a person named Galadriel, you get approved.
  6. Keep your information updated, (new url, new e-mailaddress, new owner).

Namelisting

  1. Link back to thenamelistings.org all the time!
  2. Keep your site updated (at least once every 2 months) and let us know by a last update date on the main page.
  3. Don't forget to add the year to your last update date!
  4. There must be an English version of your namelisting.
  5. Your site needs an update (main) page, a join form, a members page and either an edit form or your e-mail address so members can let you know if their details have changed.
  6. Your namelisting has to be viewable in the most used browsers, Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera.

Listing fans

  1. Members must provide a name, valid e-mail address and country, but they can decide wether or not to show/hide the e-mail!
  2. You must accept ALL fans.
  3. You must list the countries.

Applying policy

  1. Fill in the form completely (name, e-mail, your name, url).
  2. One form per namelisting! Even when you are applying for (e.g.) Ingrid and Inge, they need to be on separate forms.
  3. You can have a namelisting for several names combined (e.g.) Susanna, Suzanna, Susana, Susan, but you need to be approved for ALL of them!
  4. You can combine your namelisting with (e.g.) a fanlisting, but you need separate memberlists.

Suggestions

  1. Last update has to be either yyyy/mm/dd or has the month as Feb(ruary) instead of 02. Dates like 03/01/05 can be confusing.
